Frequently asked questions
What to expect, what to bring and how to book a physiotherapy appointment.
What happens at my first physiotherapy consultation?
Your practitioner will discuss your symptoms, medical history and goals, then carry out relevant movement and strength assessments. Where appropriate, the appointment also includes treatment, advice and an exercise plan.
What should I bring?
Please bring any relevant GP or consultant letters and imaging reports. Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move and the affected area to be assessed.
Do I need a GP referral?
Many private physiotherapy appointments can be self-booked. If using health insurance, check your insurer’s rules and authorisation requirements before booking.
Do you accept private medical insurance?
We accept BUPA, AXA Health, CIGNA, WPA and AVIVA. We invoice these insurers directly. Vitality clients pay for their appointment and claim back. Please provide your membership number and authorisation code before treatment begins, and check your policy for applicable excesses.
Where is the clinic?
We are at 4 Beech Industrial Centre, Porters Wood, St Albans AL3 6PQ, subject to confirmation before the website is launched.
